Privacy policy

Who is responsible

BTLabs LTD, Limassol, Cyprus, is the controller for the personal data processed on this website, under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the Cyprus law on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data, Law 125(I)/2018. You can reach us at info@dinnertime.icu.

What this website does not do

This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics, tracking or advertising. It loads nothing from other companies: fonts and images come from the same server as the page. It has no sign-up and no form that collects your details.

Your language choice

If you switch the language, your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage on your own device, so the page opens in that language next time. It is never sent to us. You can delete it at any time in your browser settings.

Server logs

Like every website, our web server records technical information that your browser sends with each request: your IP address, the date and time, the page or file requested, the response status, the referring page and your browser type. We use this information only to deliver the website and keep it secure. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). We keep these logs only as long as needed for that purpose, and we do not sell or share them.

When the Dinnertime app opens

Adults only

Dinnertime is for people aged 18 and over. You confirm this when you sign up.

Your area, as a band

Only if you agree, the app turns your device’s location into a coarse area of roughly 5 km straight away, and stores only that area, never your exact coordinates. Other people see a band such as “under 5 km” or “about 10 km”, never a map, a dot or a distance in metres. Whether you are eating at home or out is never shown to anyone else. You can withdraw your consent at any time, and the stored area is then cleared.

Photos

The photo of your plate and your profile photo are checked by automated moderation before others see them. We remove the location data that cameras embed in photos (EXIF).

The +1: a seat at a real table

If you offer a seat at a public place, or ask to join one, we process what is needed to arrange it: the name and type of the venue, the area, the approximate time, any cuisine and dietary tags, the host’s short note, the guest’s request note, and your requests and answers. To decide whether you can take part, we also check your account: your trust level (for example a confirmed email and phone), an approved profile photo, how long you have had your account (at least 48 hours), and whether a safety hold is in place. The name of the venue is shown only to the guest whose request was accepted. Both people must meet these account checks. We keep offers, requests and check-ins for 90 days and then remove what identifies you; the venue name and the host’s note are deleted 30 days after the dinner. Nothing about a +1 is sent to the AI provider, to analytics services or to any other third party.

The friend link

If you choose to share your plan with a friend, the app creates a private link that you send yourself, for example through a messaging app. We never contact your friend. Anyone with the link sees your first name, the other person’s first name and profile photo, the name and area of the venue, the start time, whether the plan is planned, met or cancelled, and whether you have checked in or said you are home safe. It never shows anyone’s contact details. If the other person shares the plan, their friend sees your first name and profile photo. You can revoke the link at any time; it stops working 12 hours after the start time, and we then delete it.

Olive, the AI companion

Olive is an AI, and she always says so. When you write or talk to Olive, your messages are sent to an external AI model provider that works for us as a data processor, only to produce her replies. In the free version, Olive forgets the conversation when your sitting ends. The app’s privacy notice will name the provider and where it processes data. Olive is never told about your +1 plans.

Reports and safety

If you report someone, or tell us that something felt wrong, people on our safety team review it. The person you report is never told who reported them.

Your rights

You have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability (Articles 15 to 21 GDPR). Where we rely on your consent, such as for your area, you can withdraw it at any time. To exercise these rights, or for any question about your data, write to privacy@dinnertime.icu.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority in Cyprus, the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection: www.dataprotection.gov.cy.
